INGREDIENT LIBRARY

Understand what you're taking.

Every ingredient in ADAPT has a role. Explore what it is, why we selected it, how it works, and what the research actually says.

INGREDIENT OVERVIEW

What it is

Start with the ingredient itself, not the marketing around it.

Ashwagandha, or Withania somnifera, is a botanical with a long history of traditional use in Ayurvedic and Unani medicine and a growing body of modern human research.

ADAPT contains 300 mg of Ashwagandha Root Extract standardized to 5% withanolides per serving.

That distinction matters.

Ashwagandha supplements can differ significantly depending on the part of the plant used, whether the ingredient is a powder or extract, how concentrated it is, and how it is standardized.

Some products use root only. Others use combinations of root and leaf. Some contain basic botanical powder, while others use standardized extracts.

Ashwagandha naturally contains compounds known as withanolides, which are commonly used as markers when standardizing commercial extracts. However, withanolides are not the only naturally occurring compounds in the plant, and a higher withanolide percentage does not automatically make one supplement superior to another.

For Nortico, transparency matters more than simply placing a recognizable botanical name on the label.

That is why ADAPT clearly discloses:

  • The plant part: root
  • The form: extract
  • The amount: 300 mg per serving
  • The standardization: 5% withanolides

You should know what you are taking and how much you are getting.

FORMULATION ROLE

Why we use it

An ingredient earns its place by having a clear job inside the formula.

Modern life rarely creates pressure from only one source.

It is the full schedule.

The constant decision-making.

The workout squeezed between meetings.

The deadlines.

The notifications.

The day that technically ended an hour ago while your mind is still processing everything that happened.

Ashwagandha is one of the foundational ingredients in ADAPT because it has been studied for its potential role in supporting the body's response to everyday stress.

Rather than using Ashwagandha as a generic label claim, we chose a standardized root extract with a clearly disclosed amount and withanolide concentration.

Its role in ADAPT is not to create an artificial stimulant effect.

It is not included to make you feel numb.

And it is not intended to function as a sedative.

It is part of a broader daily formula designed around stress resilience, composure, and consistency.

That fits the way we think about performance at Nortico.

The goal is not to remove every demanding moment from your day.

The goal is to build habits and routines that help you stay steadier when those demanding moments arrive.

MECHANISM

How it works

The biology behind the ingredient, explained without turning it into a buzzword.

Ashwagandha is commonly described as an adaptogenic botanical.

The term adaptogen is generally used for botanicals studied for their potential role in helping the body respond to physical and psychological stressors.

Human research on Ashwagandha has examined several systems involved in the body's stress response.

One of the most frequently discussed is the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, commonly called the HPA axis.

The HPA axis helps coordinate hormonal responses to stress, including the release of cortisol.

Clinical studies using specific Ashwagandha preparations have reported changes in measures such as:

  • Perceived stress
  • Serum cortisol
  • Sleep quality
  • Fatigue
  • Certain measures of well-being

Ashwagandha root also naturally contains withanolides and other phytochemicals that may contribute to its biological activity.

The important point is that the research does not support treating every Ashwagandha product as identical.

Different studies have used different:

  • Extracts
  • Plant parts
  • Standardizations
  • Daily amounts
  • Study durations
  • Populations

That is why ADAPT clearly identifies the form and amount used rather than relying on the word “Ashwagandha” alone.

SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE

What the science says

What has actually been studied, what researchers observed, and where the evidence still has limits.

Ashwagandha has been evaluated in randomized controlled human trials and systematic reviews for outcomes related to stress, cortisol, sleep, and other measures of well-being.

A 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated nine randomized controlled trials involving 558 participants.

Across the included studies, Ashwagandha preparations were associated with favorable changes in perceived stress, anxiety-related scores, and serum cortisol compared with placebo.

However, the individual studies used different Ashwagandha preparations, amounts, and populations. The authors also noted that additional information is needed to better understand long-term safety.

A later 2025 meta-analysis reported a reduction in cortisol across included studies but did not find a statistically significant improvement in perceived stress, illustrating why the evidence should be interpreted carefully rather than reduced to a simple claim that Ashwagandha “eliminates stress.”

Individual clinical trials have also evaluated standardized Ashwagandha root extracts over periods of several weeks.

These studies are useful for understanding the botanical, but they do not prove that every Ashwagandha extract, every serving amount, or every finished supplement will produce the same result.

ADAPT contains 300 mg of Ashwagandha Root Extract standardized to 5% withanolides as one component of a seven-ingredient formula.

The finished ADAPT formula has not been represented as equivalent to any individual Ashwagandha clinical trial.

For Nortico, scientific research is used to inform ingredient selection and responsible communication, not to justify claims that go beyond what the evidence actually supports.
